WELCOME TO THE SUMMIT MOVEMENT ARTS COLLECTIVE

  • LEVELS IV/V/VI/VII

    These levels are designed for our more dedicated and advanced dancers. Ranging in ages from 12-19 years. Participants will engage with guest artists on a daily basis and explore new genres each week. Our Summer Intensive provides dancers with the opportunity to learn from top educators in the industry, equipping them with valuable skills for growth.

  • LEVELS II/III

    Our Dance Summer Intensive for Levels II/III, for ages 8-11, offers a unique program focusing on creative exploration and technical development. Dancers will experience various styles, discover new techniques, and enhance their skills while building confidence. Guided by experienced instructors, students will refine their technique, articulating movements with precision and grace, preparing them for future artistic pursuits.

  • LEVELS PRE/I

    Our program for kids ages 5 to 7 fosters a love for movement and creativity in a fun, supportive setting. Participants learn foundational techniques in ballet, tap, jazz, and flip hop. Classes will focus on enhancing body awareness, rhythm, and coordination through engaging activities tailored to their energetic spirit.

  • LEVELS INTRO/COMBO

    Our Dance Summer Program for ages 2-4 features the acclaimed Ready, Set, Dance curriculum, which combines structured movement with joy. This program fosters creativity and confidence while supporting developmental milestones through interactive games and imaginative play. It enriches young dancers' experiences, stimulates their brains, and encourages physical growth. Children discover the joy of dance and build a foundation for future artistic pursuits.

  • CREATIVE MOVEMENT

    Join us at The Garden Arts Center for our summer program for dancers 0-2 years old. The Ready, Set, Move curriculum fosters a supportive environment allowing children to express themselves through dance.

    Our sessions promote physical development, coordination, and imagination in a fun setting. Caregivers will bond with their children through movement and music activities.

Meet the Team

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world.

  • Originally from Philadelphia, PA, Mariah studied jazz dance at The University of the Arts. Before moving to Los Angeles to further her career in the performing arts, she taught and choreographed at multiple competitive dance studios across the Greater Philadelphia and Tri-State areas. She was also a member of Rennie Harris’ Puremovement, a professional hip-hop theatre company, where she trained extensively in street styles, including House, Funk (Locking and Popping), Breaking, and Hip-Hop. Most recently, Mariah danced on Childish Gambino’s The New World Tour and choreographed and performed on BLXST’s I’ll Always Come Find You Tour with Joyce Wrice, Eric Bellinger’s Obsession Tour, and Flo Milli’s Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Tour with R&B artist Gogo Morrow.

  • Originally from Memphis, Tennessee, Akem began his dance training at the University of Memphis. He performed with the company Bridging Souls and then furthered his training at The Joffrey Ballet School and many more schools. After training he returned to Memphis to choreograph, teach and obtain his degree in finance. Akem then moved to LA to continue his dance career and is grateful for the opportunities he has had. He has been able to perform concert work with San Pedro City Ballet, LA Dance Moves, Westside Ballet,The Realm and musical theatre work such as Hairspray with Royal Caribbean, Newsies, Dreamgirls and The World Premiere of Esther. Akem is grateful for the arts and is doing the work to keep it alive by teaching everywhere he can to develop young dancers into strong, graceful and creative artists.

  • Mark, (he/they) Philadelphia, graduated from the University of the Arts School of Dance (BFA, Dance & Ballet Performance. They’ve danced professionally with Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Les Ballets Jazz De Montreal (BJM) and Camille A. Brown & Dancers. Mark is an award winning dancer and choreographer, including the Philadelphia Rocky Award for Outstanding Dance Performance, Pennsylvania Ballet Choreography Award, 2020 EMERGE Choreography Award from Gibney Company & Springboard Danse Montreal, and 2023 Princess Grace Award for Choreography. Mark premiered their first full evening length work entitled at Gibney Dance NY in 2019, and since then has premiered 3 more full length works with their collective BIGKID DANCE in Philadelphia. Mark has been commissioned by American Ballet Theater (ABT), Whim W’him Contemporary Dance Seattle, Gibney Company, Philadelphia Ballet II, and Dark Circles Contemporary Dance, Black Light Summit and DanceWorks Chicago for new choreographic works, and is a 2023 Choreography Fellow at Jacob’s Pillow. They’ve also created work on the University of the Arts School of Dance, The Ailey School, Peridance Youth Ensemble and Pace University. Currently, Mark is guest faculty at Peridance Capezio Arts Center, Gibney Dance NY, MindLeaps, Bennington College, director/founder of BIGKID DANCE and a freelance educator, dancer and choreographer.
